How creators earn on KURV
The two numbers a creator chooses on KURV, mint share and royalty, what each one pays, how they trade off against the Vault, and why neither is an income promise.

If you’re making a collection on KURV, two numbers decide how you get paid: your mint share and your royalty. Both are your choice, and both are fixed once you sign. Here’s how they work. You can try both on testnet, at testnet.kurv.fun, where coins are free and nothing has value.
Where a mint’s money goes
When someone mints a piece, the price splits like this:
- 5% to KURV. That’s the mint fee.
- The other 95% is split between you and the collection’s Vault, using your mint share.
There can also be a Vault top-up on top of the price, which goes straight to the Vault. That’s covered in How to mint an NFT on KURV.
Number one: your mint share
Your mint share is how much of that 95% comes to you, anywhere from 0% to 100%. Whatever you don’t take goes to the Vault.
Example from the docs: a $10 price with a 50% share. KURV gets $0.50, you get $4.75, and $4.75 goes to the Vault (plus any top-up).
Number two: your royalty
Your royalty is a cut of every later sale on KURV’s market, between 5% and 10%. It’s the whole fee on a collector-to-collector sale, and it’s split:
- Half to you
- A quarter to KURV
- A quarter to the collection’s Vault
The same royalty also comes off when a holder sells a piece back to the Vault. (The numbers are in The Vault, explained simply.)
The tradeoff: you vs. the Vault
This is the real decision. Your mint share is a dial:
- A bigger share pays you more at mint, and puts less in the Vault.
- A smaller share builds the Vault, which gives your holders somewhere to sell back to.
There’s no right answer. It depends on what you want your collection to be. Some creators want to be paid for the art up front. Others care more about holders having a Vault behind them. Just pick on purpose.
Fixed for life
Your mint share and royalty are fixed for the life of the collection once you sign. You can’t raise your share later, and you can’t change the royalty. Think about both before you sign. (The full setup: How to put your collection on KURV.)
Other marketplaces
Your royalty applies on KURV’s market. If a piece is traded somewhere else, that marketplace decides whether royalties get paid. KURV can’t control that.
What this is not
- Not an income promise. What you earn depends on whether people mint and trade. Every price, return and buyer is up to the market.
- Not financial advice. Read Risks and disclaimer before you create anything.
Quick recap
- 5% of each mint goes to KURV, and your mint share decides your part of the 95%
- Royalty is 5 to 10% on later sales, split half to you, a quarter to KURV, a quarter to the Vault
- Bigger share = more for you now, smaller share = a stronger Vault
- Both are fixed for life
- Other marketplaces decide on royalties themselves
