If you’ve spent a minute on kurv.fun, you’ve met him. Max Cat is the cat on the homepage, in the guides and in posts. He’s also a real collection: Charvel’s first KURV collection, hand-drawn from start to finish.

Two jobs: collection and mascot

Max Cat is two things at once:

  • A collection on KURV, built the same way any creator’s collection is.
  • KURV’s mascot, the face you’ll see across the site and these guides.

How he’s made

Max Cat is hand-drawn. Each trait was drawn by hand, and each cat is built from seven layers, stacked back to front:

  1. Background
  2. Fur
  3. Head
  4. Eyes
  5. Nose
  6. Whiskers
  7. Frame

Every cat takes one trait from each layer. That’s why the cats clearly belong together while each one has its own attitude.

Watch it on the homepage

The animation on kurv.fun’s homepage takes one finished cat apart into those seven layers. It’s the quickest way to understand how a layered collection works: watch the Background, Fur and the rest separate, then come back together.

Why a cat?

Because a mascot should be easy to recognize and fun to draw. A cat has a clear silhouette, big expressions and endless attitudes. Max Cat is used across KURV to show how things work, from the launch steps to the Vault.

What Max Cat shows creators

Max Cat is a working example of nearly everything in these guides:

  • Layers and traits: seven layers, one trait each per cat.
  • Hand-drawn generative art: every part drawn by hand, combined by KURV.
  • Consistency: shared pose and framing, with a Frame layer that finishes every piece the same way.
  • The full launch path: like every collection launched on KURV, it gets its own contract and its own Vault.

Traits, layers and rarity 101 uses him as its main example.

Finding Max Cat, step by step

  1. Go to kurv.fun.
  2. Log in with Google, Apple, email, Base, X or Telegram, or just browse.
  3. Open Explore and look for Max Cat.
  4. Open his page to see the pieces, and check there for what’s open right now.

A concrete example

A new visitor lands on kurv.fun and watches the homepage animation. The cat comes apart into Background, Fur, Head, Eyes, Nose, Whiskers and Frame, then snaps back together. She realizes her own character drawings could work the same way, and opens Studio to try splitting one of her drawings into layers.

Using Max Cat right

Max Cat belongs to Charvel. He appears in KURV’s own guides and posts, but that doesn’t make him free to use in your collection. Draw your own character instead; Drawing a character like Max Cat shows how.

His personality, in parts

Look closely at the layers and you can see how personality gets built. The Eyes layer carries most of the mood: sleepy, sharp, surprised. Whiskers and Nose add small shifts in attitude. Fur and Head set the basic look, and Background sets the scene. The Frame, last in the stack, gives every cat the same finished edge, which is a big part of why a grid of Max Cats looks like one family even though every cat is different.

What Max Cat teaches about planning

A seven-layer cat sounds simple, but every layer had to be drawn to line up with every other. The head has to fit every fur trait. The eyes have to sit right on every head. That’s the planning work behind any good layered collection, and Max Cat is a good one to study before you start your own. Planning your collection before you draw and Preparing your art files cover how to do that work.

Max Cat in these guides

Across the Learn Center, Max Cat plays the guide. He stacks blocks in the blockchain explainer, stands between DeFi machines and a Vault, holds a magnifying glass to contract addresses, and wears a tester badge. Wherever a KURV idea needs explaining, he’s usually the one pointing at it.

Common mistakes

  • Thinking Max Cat isn’t hand-drawn because he’s layered. Every trait was drawn by hand.
  • Using Max Cat’s art in your own collection.
  • Trusting “Max Cat” collections elsewhere. Find him from kurv.fun.
  • Assuming the mascot gets special rules. Like every collection launched on KURV, his has its own contract and Vault.
